Independent family retailer opens seventh SPAR forecourt store in the North of England

In the North West of England, independent family forecourt business ARMS Group have opened its seventh SPAR forecourt store in the region at Goose Green in Wigan.

A family business

ARMS Group is run by three brothers, Asif, Reece, and Salim Patel. The trio have operated the SPAR brand under license from SPAR UK wholesaler James Hall & Co. Ltd since 2007. Following their latest SPAR branded store opening, the brothers are currently converting their Marus Bridge forecourt shop to the SPAR brand.

Reece Patel, Director at ARMS Group, said: “The family is thrilled with the transformation of Goose Green and the expanded store now under the SPAR brand has improved the site hugely. The range is excellent, and we are positive about its future.”

Seventh SPAR forecourt store

The new SPAR forecourt store and refurbished Shell site is located at Goose Green in Wigan, with a retail sales area of approximately 110 m2. Instore, customers can avail of a comprehensive food-to-go department including a hot food counter and coffee offer, as well as grocery essentials including fresh and frozen products. A modernised interior includes electronic shelf edge labels, energy efficient refrigeration, LED lighting throughout, new flooring and ceiling. There are eight pumps outside in the forecourt, with solar panels installed above the store to reduce energy costs and improve the carbon footprint.
