Independent Dutch retailer opens new SPAR Supermarket in Diemen Zuid

Independent Dutch retailer Paul Toepoel celebrated the opening of the SPAR Supermarket in Diemen Zuid. A former manager at the SPAR Supermarket on the Warmoesstraat in Amsterdam's city centre, this is Paul's first independently owned SPAR Supermarket.

The supermarket opened on September 18 and is located at the Holland Park in Diemen Zuid in a residential area with many families and urban professionals. Located to the south of Amsterdam, this is an evolving area of a longstanding district.

Paul Toepoel, independent retailer of the SPAR Supermarket Diemen Zuid, previously worked as store manager at the SPAR Supermarket in Warmoesstraat located in the centre of Amsterdam. This entrepreneurship underpins the spirit of the SPAR brand and the importance of independent retailing as part of the SPAR retail network.

The team operating the store comprises experienced employees coming from a store which is closing and new recruits.

Convenience and food-to-go focused

Instore, the offering has been tailored to the convenience for which SPAR Netherlands is known, including the installation of a SPAR FoodClub. Customers can get freshly made salads, sandwiches, pastas, pizzas, and Tosti Club sandwiches, as well as barista coffee and instore bakery

In addition, residents of the nearby area can source daily grocery essentials. This includes a selection of fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as food items ranging from cooking ingredients to snacks, and drinks to frozen products. Additionally, a range of household and personal care items are also available.

Digital innovations which have been integrated during the store fit-out include media screens at several strategic locations while self-checkouts streamline the experience for shoppers. The overall ambience is aimed at providing a pleasant and convenient shopping experience for customers.
