This partnership saw fundraising take place in stores across the country, showcasing the dedication and passion of staff, retailers, and customers. It is the longest-standing partnership for both Henderson Group and Cancer Fund for Children, bringing lasting change to children in Northern Ireland by providing vital services to families coping with a cancer diagnosis, as well as those experiencing bereavement.
Paddy Doody, Sales and Marketing Director at Henderson Group, thanked the retailers who have made the fundraising a permanent fixture in their stores; “Many retailers have their own reasons for supporting this incredibly deserving charity, many know families who have had to navigate a cancer journey, yet no matter the reason, they all want to make an impact and use their network to do great things.”
Through a partnership with Tearfund, stores under the Henderson Group brand portfolio have raised over £1 million from local communities through its annual Christmas appeal. This year’s funds will go towards providing education opportunities in countries, including the CAR, where currently, three in every four women cannot read or write. Through literacy and vocational training, Tearfund will ensure women are gaining the essential tools to lift themselves and their families out of poverty.
Bronagh Luke from SPAR Northern Ireland commented, “The success of this year’s partnership appeal with Tearfund just goes to show how generous our shoppers and local communities are. People throughout Northern Ireland understand that education is a privilege afforded to us here, but that isn’t equal for all around the world.
“We are so proud of the response to this year’s Appeal. Raising over one-million-pounds for Tearfund projects from a country as small as Northern Ireland in only a few months is so impressive, and it is a huge privilege to be able to bring back the Appeal every year.”
