At the other end of the Super League, Belarus and the Netherlands will be relegated to the First Division in 2019 – the European Athletics Team Championships do not take place in years that coincide with the European Athletics Championships.

In Vaasa, at the First League, Sweden won with 320.5 while fellow Scandinavians and hosts Finland were second with 314.5, both teams securing a return to the world’s premier team competition between nations.
They were joined by Switzerland, who will compete in the Super League in two years´ time for the first time ever, who put together a total of 305.5 points and beat Turkey to the final promotion place by just 3.5 points.

Estonia, Bulgaria and Denmark were the three teams that had the misfortune to be relegated from the First League.
Hungary dominated the Second League in the Israeli city of Tel Aviv and won with 372.5 points while, in second and third place respectively, Slovakia had 306.5 and Lithuania 298.5 to secure the remaining two promotion positions.
At the other end of the Second League, Iceland and Moldova were relegated.

Luxembourg won the Third League in the Maltese town of Marsa with 317 points and will be in the Second League in 2019 for the first time.
They will be joined by Bosnia & Herzegovina who finished second with 266 points and just edged out Georgia and hosts Malta for the other promotion place.
