Jeppe has already earned his start-up capital of DKK 250,000 (€33,615) after just three months of trading. The license model not only includes extensive support from SPAR Denmark but also provides an opportunity for retailers to put their personal stamp on the store.
SPAR Denmark expects to open two more of these stores this year and up to ten over the next two years. One of the stores to open this year is located in the metropolitan area of Copenhagen, namely a SPAR Supermarket being built from scratch. SPAR Denmark already has three stores in central Copenhagen, Frederiksberg, and Copenhagen’s Sydhavn.
Esben Keller, Dagrofa’s Director of the chains SPAR, Min Købmand and Let-Køb, said that all three chains experienced growth during the pandemic, with SPAR increasing its market share. Dagrofa is therefore in a strong position to launch this new retail strategy.
“The license model provides an opportunity for more grocery talents to run their own store, with Dagrofa taking a larger share of the financial risk. The company will also be responsible for a larger share of the accounts, allowing the retailer to concentrate on the store, its customers, and the local community”, said Esben Keller.
As a licensee, a retailer needs a start-up capital of DKK 250,000 (€33,615), whilst Dagrofa assists with premises, inventory, and concepts, which can cost up to several million DKK.
