Download imageSPAR Austria currently operates 50 SPAR Express forecourt stores. In 2019, the addition of two new forecourt stores in Amstetten and Wels is already planned.
“The extended cooperation between SPAR and Doppler as well as the addition of 15 new stores shows that our SPAR Express concept is in touch with the latest trends and that we clearly recognise the needs of our customers,” said CEO of SPAR Austria, Friedrich Poppmeier.
In the first half of 2019, the turnover of SPAR Express forecourt stores increased by more than 10% compared to the same period last year. “With this sales growth we are far ahead of local food market growth,” said Poppmeier. “These positive results have motivated us to extend our cooperation with Doppler, which started in 2009, becoming their exclusive forecourt store partner over the next decade.”
In September 2009, shortly after the partnership between SPAR Austria and Doppler was first launched, the first SPAR Express forecourt store was opened in Salzburg. Today, customers of the 50 SPAR Express stores have become used to shopping seven days a week with extended opening hours benefiting from the diverse and extensive product range, all available at supermarket prices.
The modernised shopfitting concept introduced last year has been implemented at four locations to date. The new design features lots of wood, updated instore communication, an improved floor plan and a new fresh-market square. The success of the new store concept is evident by the positive sales growth of the modernised stores.
