In England and Northern Ireland, the extensive SPAR UK retail network has been further strengthened through new store openings, bringing the brand to even more communities.

New SPAR store in Nottingham

A new £1.5m SPAR store opened in the Phoenix Park area of Nottingham. Backing on to the busy A610, the new 275m2 store sits on the site of a former children’s soft play centre. The store employs 46 colleagues from the locality. Shoppers are offered an extensive range of food and non-food items from A-brands as well as the SPAR own brand range. The local family-run craft bakery Adkins Bakery provides freshly baked products to customers.

In addition to groceries, customers can use services such as a cash machine, enjoy both indoor and outdoor seating areas, and the car park has capacity for 22 vehicles. The SPAR Supermarket also has sensory lighting, LED lights and doors on chillers. Electric vehicle charging points will be installed in the autumn, highlighting the importance of green initiatives to both SPAR and customers alike.

Tipton and Leamington Spa

A new 186m2 SPAR store opened in Tipton, operated by the retail division of SPAR UK partner A.F. Blakemore. The shop is located in a popular residential area and has car parking for 20 vehicles. The £1.1 million store was opened by Wolves Football Club legend Steve Bull MBE. The modern store provides shoppers with a wide range of food and non-food items from national suppliers as well as SPAR Own Brand products. Value is a key proposition and there are many special offers for shoppers to snap up. Two self-checkouts are available for customers in a rush or with small baskets. With green initiatives so important to consumers, the new store incorporates sensory lighting, LED lights and doors on chillers.

Another new SPAR store opened its doors in Leamington Spa. This 269m2 supermarket boasts a fantastic fresh range, an instore bakery, and more. The second phase of the store’s development will include a serve over Daily Deli counter offering freshly a variety of convenience options.

Dundonald welcomes a new store

A new SPAR Supermarket in Coopers Mill, Dundonald, opened its doors after a £2.2 million investment, creating 22 jobs. The 279m2 store, operated by an independent retailer, brings a full-service store to the Coopers Mill area. Their offering includes a wide selection of products from local suppliers, an extensive range of fresh produce, a hot food counter serving breakfast and lunch, a full Barista Bar coffee offering.

The SPAR Supermarket will be central to the community with plans to give back to local charities and community groups, including SPAR NI’s charity partner, Marie Curie. The retail team have plans to take part in regular community litter picks to keep the area clean and tidy. Furthermore, an instore donation station for the local Food Bank has been included.
