Customers shopping in the period 16 September to 17 November in participating DESPAR, EUROSPAR and INTERSPAR stores received a ‘school voucher’ for every 15 euro spent. The vouchers could then be allocated to participating local schools in the area. Customers could deliver the vouchers directly to their chosen school or upload them via the project website or the dedicated mobile application.
All kindergartens, primary, secondary public and private schools in all regions in Italy where the SPAR brand is operated, could participate in the project after registering through the Scuolafacendo website. Using the collected vouchers, schools could select educational tools and materials from a special catalogue, featuring over 60 items ranging from stationery items and tools for creativity, inclusion and sports to technical equipment for computer science and robotics classes.
With this initiative, DESPAR Italia consortium continues to further focus on returning value to local communities as part of their sustainability manifest objectives. Ombretta Putzu, head of marketing and communication at DESPAR Italia, commented that community and social cohesion are built starting from the classrooms and between the school desks. This is why supporting the world of education means accompanying the growth of the new generations and therefore investing in the future.
Along with the previous project of DESPAR Italia, “Le Buone Abitudini” aimed at healthy eating education in 1,250 Italian municipalities, the brand’s responsibility for education stands out.
