James Hall & Co. Ltd. has been making some of the North of England’s favourite sandwiches and wraps since 2009 through its Great Northern Sandwich Company, with thousands of sandwiches distributed to SPAR stores every day.
A celebratory 75 millionth sandwich, packed in gold and black, was created for the occasion. The SPAR store at Lancaster University hosted a special event to mark this achievement, giving free sandwiches to customers as a thank you for their loyalty and support.
Another remarkable milestone is on schedule this month when the company’s 1p charity sandwich sale pledge reaches the sum of £750,000 since its inception in October 2011. SPAR UK’s national charity partner, Marie Curie, has been the beneficiary of this initiative since November 2016.
Andrew Barnes, Trading Director at James Hall & Co. Ltd., said: “We are proud to reach this fantastic milestone. Sandwiches are essential to our food manufacturing business, and it is a huge achievement for the team who make a strong range of delicious, high-quality products every day.”
“Sandwiches and wraps form an integral part of our retail offer in both our company-owned SPAR stores and our independent retailers’ stores. The meal deal is a popular mechanism for SPAR customers in the North of England who want a great value and a flavourful lunch.”
