Employee recognition is a powerful tool for fostering a positive workplace culture and boosting engagement and productivity. Honouring employees for their exceptional service and dedication makes them feel valued and inspires to strive for excellence, as seen in various SPAR country organisations.
Gregor Fries, a butcher apprentice at SPAR Austria’s meat processing company TANN, was named the best butcher apprentice in Austria after winning the regional competition for meat processors in Lower Austria in May 2025. Monika Bernhofer, manager of the INTERSPAR Hypermarket bakery in Salzburg, earned exclusive recognition by completing the prestigious bread sommelier training in late 2024, a qualification held by only 29 individuals in Austria.
Meanwhile, two SPAR Austria apprentices from Styria excelled at the Agrarmarkt Austria (AMA) cheese counter competition, with Jessica Constantin winning first place and Jessica Deixelberger securing third out of 181 participants. Fourteen SPAR Austria employees from Tyrol were also honoured for completing their master in trade training a specialised programme for SPAR Austria employees, with some graduates having previously completed their apprenticeships at SPAR Austria.

SPAR Pakistan recognises its Employees of the Month, celebrating the dedication and passion of supermarket employees from various stores in the country. These professionals are awarded for making a positive impact on the stores and, most importantly, the customers they serve.
SPAR Slovenia features its employees in a series of engaging videos shared across their communication channels, highlighting the importance of their contributions to the organisation. For instance, Amir, a warehouse worker for 16 years, shares his experiences within his team, emphasising their collective efforts in maintaining smooth logistics processes. Similarly, Nika, a pastry chef, showcases her dedication to creating high-quality desserts, while Karmen, a salesperson in the dairy department, discusses her role in ensuring store orderliness and customer satisfaction. These videos not only recognise the employees’ hard work but also illustrate what makes them invaluable.
