LOGIT 2018 closed today after three full days of knowledge sharing in Oslo. The Conference brought together 90 SPAR colleagues from around the world who specialise in IT & Supply Chain. Separate IT and Supply Chain Action Group meetings complemented the full agenda, ensuring delegates got the most out of their time together.

Great interest was expressed in the many Supply Chain initiatives and IT System projects that have been carried out over the past twelve months by SPAR Partners, together with SPAR International and SPAR Preferred Suppliers. Increased interest was also seen in the new support tools being shared on the SPAR International intranet platform, SPAR Connect, with ideas generated for additional materials to be developed in the coming year.

A highlight for many was the insight gained into the development of SPAR Norway’s newest supermarket in Oslo, particularly in terms of its focus on sustainability and the instore technologies that have been implemented. Members of the Supply Chain Action Group also got to visit the fully automated chilled central warehouse of Asko.

Recognition in excellence was shown when four awards were given during the closing session of the Conference. SPAR Austria received the Retail Systems & Technology Excellence Award after sharing insights into the retail system used in their newest distribution centre. SPAR Saudi Arabia was delighted to receive the Supply Chain Excellence Award for the amazing work that has gone into updating and modernising its supply chain over the past year. An intensive programme undertaken by SPAR Guangdong in China together with Coca-Cola to modernise the supply chain saw them receiving the Special Recognition Award. And finally, a Lifetime Achievement Award was given to SPAR South Africa’s Trevor Currie, reflecting his extensive support to many SPAR Partners over the course of his career and involvement in LOGIT sharing knowledge and experiences.
