SPAR SPAR International

SPAR is the world’s leading voluntary food retail chain. The business started with one Dutch store in 1932 and now comprises 13,809 stores in 48 countries worldwide, meeting the needs of approximately 14.7 million customers each day. The development of the SPAR brand has been underpinned by a set of values that have guided the organisation since its establishment. At the heart of these core values is the commitment of SPAR stores worldwide to freshness, choice, quality and service.

SPAR is an international group of independently owned and operated retailers and wholesalers who work together in partnership under the SPAR brand to provide a high quality, value for money shopping experience for the communities we serve. The SPAR multi-format retail strategy enables SPAR licensed operators to select the most appropriate format which most effectively meets the needs of customers.

As the custodian of the SPAR brand, SPAR International is the head office of the worldwide SPAR organisation. Located in Amsterdam, SPAR International is the owner of the license and supports SPAR Partners in developing their retail businesses.

As a result of our ‘Better Together’ strategy, SPAR International’s strategic objective is to accelerate growth by further harnessing our international scale, pooling our global resources to reap economies of scale in all areas of our business and uniting our global partners to be and act better together.

Our mission is to ensure that SPAR remains the world’s leading voluntary food retail chain and that we continue to grow our brand, our presence and our partners by working together to enhance the competitiveness, productivity and profitability of our retail and wholesale partners worldwide.
