SPAR Netherlands has officially celebrated the opening of its 100^th SPAR Express forecourt store, a fantastic milestone in an expansion story that started at the end of 2017 with the opening of the first SPAR Express store in the country.

The 100^th store, which opened its doors along the A12 highway near Ede includes the new SPAR Local and SPAR Bakery concepts developed jointly with SPAR International.

As with all SPAR Express stores, SPAR Express Ede has a small sales area and offers the convenience of daily items for top-up shopping. The assortment also includes convenient products such as home meal replacements, or foods and drinks to be enjoyed straight away.

The SPAR Bakery caters for customers on the go with a large assortment of freshly baked breads, buns and pastries as well as sandwiches, smoothies and yoghurts. Freshly made pizza and pancakes complete the Bakery’s assortment.

The newly introduced food service concept, SPAR Local, provides a pleasant seating area where customers can have a relaxing break and enjoy the items they purchase instore. It also provides a work space for people on the go and a meeting point for both social and business appointments.

On the opening day, SPAR Express Ede ran different promotions and offered treats to shoppers, while during that week, all SPAR Express stores in the Netherlands offered consumers the chance to win  free breakfast for a year in celebration of this 100^th store opening.

With more than 350 stores throughout the Netherlands, SPAR is the go-to convenience brand for local, daily shopping. Expansion plans are still underway as SPAR Netherlands aims to roll out more than 70 new SPAR Express stores at forecourts along the country’s highways, provincial roads or in local towns and villages.
