SPAR Netherlands is now the first Dutch food retailer to offer a same-day delivery service. SPAR is optimising its online ordering system with a same-day delivery service. This means that those who order their shopping online before 10 in the morning can have it delivered from 4pm the same day. There are no additional charges for this option and for orders of €50 or more the delivery remains free of charge, as is the case with the previously used ordering system.

Everyday convenience shopping now also online

The offer of an online shopping service fits perfectly with SPAR’s ambition of being the everyday convenience store of choice. Apart from the availability of freshly baked bread on a daily basis, other amenities such as a dry cleaning service and the Eet Smakelijk! meal service ensures that customers no longer need to leave their neighbourhood to obtain a wide variety of services and a great assortment of grocery products.

Community involvement

The SPAR online ordering service and the same day delivery service make things even easier for customers than they already were. Shopping ordered online can either be collected at their local SPAR store or delivered to customers’ homes. The trusted and well-known SPAR retailer or one of their team delivers the shopping safely to the customer’s home. Involvement in the local community is a core value of SPAR and this personal delivery service highlights this deeply rooted value.

The revenue generated by the SPAR online sales now accounts for 1.5% of retail turnover, despite having only expanded in recent months. This is in line with the national average of online ordering in retail. SPAR Netherlands hopes that by the end of this year, all SPAR stores will be able to include online ordering as an additional service.
