SPAR UAE expands presence in Dubai

August 21, 2019 IN THE CATEGORY: Store openings

Following the successful launch of the first SPAR Supermarket in Dubai in January of this year, SPAR UAE has opened their second supermarket in the city.

Catering to an even more multi-national group of customers than the initial store, the latest 563m2 SPAR  Supermarket, SPAR Glitz, is also a stand-alone store with 35 parking spaces. Based on learnings from stores in the Abu Dhabi area and the first SPAR supermarket in Dubai, the new SPAR store offers an extensive selection of fresh produce, an excellent butchery, instore bakery, fish department, delicatessen and also provides home meal replacement solutions. These service departments meet SPAR UAE’s customer service promise and contributed to the 18 new jobs created for local people of the total 21 people operating the store.

The entire retail offer, which has been welcomed by local residents and tourists alike, includes an extensive range of SPAR Own Brand products sourced internationally, regionally and locally, making up 12% of the total instore offer.

The investment of over €400,000 into SPAR Glitz is just one part of the continued new store opening programme which sees SPAR UAE bringing the brand to new customers. In 2019, SPAR UAE plans to accelerate the new store opening programme with development plans in place across the UAE to launch 30 more multi-format SPAR Supermarkets with an additional 30,000m2 of selling area, including nine supermarkets in newly developed community centres.

About SPAR UAE

The first SPAR store was opened in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2012 after SPAR International granted the SPAR licence to Abu Dhabi Co-operative Society (ADCOOPS), to develop the brand in this rapidly growing market.

SPAR UAE operates three SPAR formats: SPAR Hypermarket, SPAR Supermarket and SPAR Express. All of the stores have well developed fresh sections, demonstrating the intention to be ‘best in fresh’. The stores perform strongly and reflect the diverse needs of a multicultural society.
