SPAR has expanded its operations in Latvia by opening a new store in Rēzekne on 26 January. The 265m² neighbourhood store offers all the goods needed for everyday life and includes a bakery and fresh meat sales area. To bring more communities a high-quality grocery offering, SPAR Latvia will seek to bring its total number of stores to 24 in the coming months.

A wide assortment of goods is available in SPAR Latvia stores, including SPAR Own Brand products and fresh produce, bakery, and meat products.

SPAR Latvia stores feature products from the brand’s value, premium,  and eco lines. These include daily groceries, coffee and tea, various drinks, sweets, canned products, and non-food items. Also available are goods from the most popular manufacturers and brands in the Baltics, as well as fresh products from local Latvian companies.

The main benefits for customers shopping at SPAR in Latvia are a pleasant shopping environment, high-quality service, fresh products, and a competitive offer. In addition, SPAR engages and supports local communities in the locations of its stores.

“Last year, we successfully started working in the Latvian market with the first SPAR stores, gradually strengthening their positions”,  said Andris Vilcmeiers,  Chairman of SPAR Latvia.

“SPAR Latvia currently operates stores in Saldu, Liepāja, Cēsis, and Daugavpils. In the near future, we will seek to expand this coverage to the whole country with stores ranging between 65 to 400m²”, he added.

“Latvia’s market situation is not simple – global challenges affect local residents and their purchasing power. However, we look at growth positively and continue working towards our goals. We plan to open at least 200 stores in Latvia within five years. We believe that with the international experience of the SPAR Brand, we can bring a fresh perspective to the Latvian retail sector and provide new opportunities to entrepreneurs already working in this sector, helping them to organise and develop their business”, continued Andris Vilcmeiers.
