SPAR Gran Canaria reopens 13 SPAR Supermarkets in tourist areas

September 14, 2020 IN THE CATEGORY: Store openings

With the opening up of tourism on the island, SPAR Gran Canaria was delighted to re-open 13 of their stores recently, meeting the shopping needs of international visitors and local communities. There are a further three stores still closed in the south of the island but as tourist numbers increase, these stores may also open soon.

During the second half of March,  SPAR stores located in the tourist areas of Mogán and San Bartolomé de Tirajana were closed as a result of the lack of tourists. Also affected was the SPAR store located next to the Paseo de Las Canteras in Las Palmas.

Less than 10% of the total store portfolio of SPAR’s Gran Canaria’s partner, Cencosu, were closed at that time. The company delivers to 190 stores spread over the 21 municipalities on the island, meeting the needs of local communities.

SPAR stores across the island continue to reinforce preventive and safety measures for their customers and employees. Hydrogel hand cleaning is available at the entrance of each SPAR store, customers are encouraged to use masks while instore. Safety distances are maintained in the different areas and, when the space allows it, the separation of the flow of entrance and exit of people has been laid out.
