SPAR Gran Canaria pleased to welcome more customers as lockdown eases

June 24, 2020 IN THE CATEGORY: COVID-19, Store openings

As the lockdown measures ease in Spain, communities in the Canary Islands are once again looking to their local SPAR Supermarkets to meet their daily shopping needs. Increasing the customer count instore at one time to approximately 50% of the pre-pandemic levels will ensure more shoppers can purchase their groceries.

With a presence in 21 municipalities of the island, expanding the opening hours of many of the SPAR Supermarkets is a welcome sign of a ‘new normal’ for residents. Within this phase of the de-escalation plan, a large number of stores have resumed their usual hours from Monday to Saturday. Special opening hours will be observed on Sundays and holidays.

In line with Government criteria, wherever possible SPAR Supermarkets can cater to 50% of their previous customer count at any one time. All guidelines of social distancing are observed in all areas of the store wherever possible. Special attention is given, and preferential service hours are available to, those shoppers aged 65 or over.

Continuing to focus on the health and safety of colleagues and customers, SPAR Gran Canaria will keep the preventive measures previously adopted in all stores. Customers are encouraged to wear masks when shopping, use hydrogel hand cleanser located at the entrance and use the clearly marked entrance and exit points in each store which helps manage the flow of shoppers.
