SPAR Gran Canaria continues retail modernisation programme
SPAR Gran Canaria is investing in the modernisation of its retail estate. The latest SPAR supermarket reopenings show how targeted investment, improved layouts and expanded fresh offer areas are helping their stores meet the needs of today’s shoppers. Investments in equipment and revised store layouts further enhance the overall instore shopping experience. Customers can be assured that the service levels for which the SPAR brand on the island is known remain unchanged.
Introducing more fresh offers
At SPAR Casa Pastores II, in Santa Lucía de Tirajana, the renovated SPAR supermarket now features a self-service Fresh-to-Go area, alongside refreshed bakery and pastry departments, all designed to make shopping easier. Vertical frozen refrigeration units improve product visibility, replacing the island horizontal cabinets. LED lighting and refrigeration systems using non-polluting gas help reduce electricity consumption. The store team continues to provide local service to shoppers, while employee numbers support the expanded commercial offer.
Investing in refrigeration
SPAR Taidía, in San Bartolomé de Tirajana, reopened following a comprehensive modernisation of its 280m2 sales area. The store now has an expanded team, with additional employees helping to maintain its personalised customer service. A new aisle layout will ensure customers have an even better shopping experience, while the greengrocer and bakery departments have been adapted to meet today’s shopping habits. New autonomous refrigeration systems and energy-efficient LED lighting will reduce the store’s energy consumption. The introduction of electronic shelf labels supports a more efficient operating model while also reducing paper use.
Convenient shopping experience
The SPAR Vegueta store in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria reopened on 27 August 27 following a comprehensive refurbishment designed to offer shoppers a more pleasant and convenient shopping experience. The modernisation included renewing refrigeration equipment to increase the store’s energy efficiency. This investment also enhanced the service departments, shelving, and store fixtures. Two more people were employed for the fresh departments to keep customer service levels consistent.
SPAR Gran Canaria is the only supermarket chain with 100% Canarian capital operating across all 21 municipalities on the island.
