SPAR expands presence in Norway with new Momarken supermarket

May 26, 2020 IN THE CATEGORY: Store openings

SPAR Norway has opened SPAR Momarken, a new supermarket in the southern municipality of Mysen. With a sales area of 750m2, the store offers a wide variety of departments and service counters, giving local communities easy access to daily groceries.

The store features self-checkout machines, an expanded fresh fruit and vegetable department, as well as a good selection of bread and other baked goods. Additionally, the store features a number of different service counters offering freshly cooked products and warm food to go.

The parking spaces right in front of the store add an element of convenience. Also in front of the store are a seating area and an area to park bicycles. During the three first days after opening on 20 May, over 4,000 customers visited the store, creating a turnover of around 1 million NOK.

SPAR Momarken is run by store manager Torstein Nymoen, formerly the store manager of SPAR Øyer. The store is conveniently located close to E18, next to the Momarken racecourse, which is well known to most Norwegians because it also hosts popular music festivals and weekend fairs.

SPAR was the only supermarket chain in Norway to increase its market share in 2019. Now standing at 7.9%, SPAR Norway attributes the growth of its market share over the past five years to excellent store operations and instore promotions in its more than 290 stores across the country.
