SPAR Belgium continues to invest in its store network, with SPAR retail partner Colruyt Group marking the reopening of a fully renovated supermarket in Nieuwpoort and the opening of a new supermarket in Duffel.

Modernised SPAR supermarket reopens in Nieuwpoort

On 4 June, independent retailer Gregory Declerck reopened his fully renovated SPAR supermarket on the Kaai in Nieuwpoort. The supermarket has been transformed into a contemporary SPAR format, with a strong focus on freshness, local products and convenience.

An enhanced fresh offering is central to the new concept, including a traditional bakery that features freshly prepared dough and delivers a range of breads and pastries throughout the day. The supermarket also showcases a strong selection of local products, including regional chocolates, juices, dairy, and specialty items.

The supermarket is designed to provide a welcoming environment where customers can enjoy quality and convenience. Located in the city centre with easy access and parking, it serves residents and visitors, and is open seven days a week.

The Nieuwpoort SPAR supermarket is operated by 11 team members from the local area. Gregory Declerck and his wife Christy bring extensive experience from operating multiple SPAR stores across the region, enabling knowledge sharing and operational efficiencies.

New SPAR supermarket opens in Duffel

Further expansion continues with the opening of a new SPAR supermarket in Duffel Centre on 18 June. Managed by retailers Nadine and Tine, it introduces a fresh SPAR concept focused on customer service, quality and local engagement.

The supermarket offers a great range of fresh and locally sourced products, including produce coming from regional suppliers. The team aims to create a welcoming neighbourhood supermarket where customers value both the quality of the offer and the personal service.

Approximately 10 employees from the local community work in the supermarket, reinforcing the close connection between the store and its customers.

Strengthening the local SPAR network

Both the Nieuwpoort renovation and the Duffel opening reflect SPAR Belgium partner Colruyt Group’s continued commitment to investing in its store network and supporting independent retailers. By combining strong local entrepreneurship with a focus on fresh food, quality and convenience, SPAR supermarkets continue to meet the evolving needs of customers across Belgium.
