October 14, 2021 IN THE CATEGORY: Store openings

SPAR Pakistan has opened a third store in Karachi with an emphasis on fresh product choices. Customers have been enthusiastic about the 1,700m2 SPAR Supermarket since the opening which offers a wide variety of fresh produce as well as an instore bakery and butchery. The SPAR country operator is set to open another supermarket later this year as part of its expansion strategy.

Growing brand presence

Developed within just six months, this latest SPAR Supermarket is located in North Nazimabad, one of the most prominent neighbourhoods of Karachi, increasing brand awareness and visibility for SPAR in the city.

Thanks to its location on a major thoroughfare, the store is easily accessible to local customers. Customer enthusiasm was evident on the opening day when shoppers came to experience the store in greater numbers than anticipated. The subsequent sales data also reflect the customer enthusiasm for the wide range of products available.

In addition to food and non-food products, the total range of 10,000 SKUs also includes household goods, cosmetics, baby products, and fashion accessories.

Supporting local economy

By expanding its store portfolio, SPAR Pakistan has also created 100 new jobs in the city. Job creation is critically important currently as many people are looking for new careers because of the negative impacts of the pandemic.

SPAR Pakistan is also a strong supporter of local entrepreneurs and suppliers, with 75% of the total instore offer being sourced domestically. The remaining product offering is secured through the global SPAR network.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr Naveed Sultan, CEO of SPAR Pakistan, highlighted the company’s plans to expand by bringing a high-quality international retail solution to local communities across the country.
