In February, a DESPAR Express store in Bordighera reopened after refurbishments to give customers a richer shopping experience. The redeveloped store design has sustainability integrated into the concept. The latest generation of closed refrigerators and low-consumption LED lighting are incorporated into the store. Another new DESPAR Supermarket opened in Trieste in February. The store features a modern layout and locally sourced products, conveying quality and convenience. The shop represents a new chapter for the retailer, a former employee at DESPAR Nord Est who began her career as a cashier in 1988 and is now the owner of this DESPAR Supermarket in Trieste.
In March, a new DESPAR store opened in Ferrara. The 122m2 store emphasises DESPAR Italia own brand products. Additionally, two other new DESPAR stores opened: one in Venice and one in Cervia, a few kilometres from Milano Marittima. Also this month, the restyled, historic SPAR store at Malcesine (VR) on Lake Garda was reopened after renovation. This store opened in the 1960s and has been renovated and expanded to offer a high-quality shopping experience meeting the needs of both the local community and tourists.
In the Central South region, DESPAR Italia partner Maiora saw the opening of five stores over the course of February and March. Three DESPAR stores that opened their doors to customers in Francavilla in Sinni (PZ), Adelfia (BA) and Sora (FR) are managed by three families of entrepreneurs. A new DESPAR Supermarket opened in Atina (FR) offering a wide range of products and has a focus on fresh produce plus a dedicated butchery. The region also welcomed a new EUROSPAR Supermarket into the community at Foce Varano (FG).
The growth of DESPAR in Sicilia continued with the reopening of a brand-new DESPAR Supermarket in Cesarò (ME). Two renovations were completed on a DESPAR Supermarket in Palazzolo Acreide (SR) and also one in Ragusa. The stores focus on innovative technologies, smarter layouts, and sustainable innovations to further enhance the shopping experience.
