June 7, 2021 IN THE CATEGORY: Store openings

SPAR Tomsk in May opened four new SPAR Supermarkets in Novosibirsk, Russia’s third-largest city by population. Located in high footfall areas, the new stores bring quality service and a large selection of fresh and prepared foods to the area.

The new SPAR stores have an average sales area of 800m2. Featuring a bakery, fresh produce, fish, meat, non-food, food to go, and delicatessen sections, the stores cater to all needs. Since their respective opening days, the stores have achieved an average number of 1,600 transactions per day each.

SPAR Tomsk currently offers customers a mobile app called Good Choice. This app is set to provide online groceries following the launch of an online store later this year.

To attract people to store openings, SPAR Tomsk launched a marketing campaign, including internet promotions and printed advertising materials. Since the opening, customer feedback has been highly complimentary, with many shoppers commenting on the format, great assortment, and quality service.

About SPAR Russia

The first SPAR store in Russia was opened in August 2001, after SPAR International granted the licence to a regional partner. The central office is based in Moscow – supporting regional growth and expansion of the brand.

SPAR Russia’s success is driven by recruiting new partners, investing in new stores, and the continued investment in refurbishing existing stores. As a result, there are now almost 400 SPAR stores across the country. The expansion has facilitated greater buying power and improved knowledge sharing as the number of SPAR locations increases.
