SPAR Thailand safeguards shopping safety and ease as curfew comes into force

April 6, 2020 IN THE CATEGORY: COVID-19

SPAR Thailand has expanded its delivery services, health and safety routines, as well as promotional campaigns to support customers and team members during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Thai government last week instated strengthened social distancing measures, including a nationwide partial curfew, to combat the spread of the coronavirus, as cases continue to increase in Southeast Asia’s second-largest economy.

To continue providing customers with a safe and pleasant shopping environment, SPAR Thailand has closed its seating areas in stores nationwide. All instore team members are provided with face masks as well as all appropriate sanitising materials. SPAR office staff, meanwhile, are working from home.

Customers are asked via social media campaigns and instore signage to be considerate to fellow shoppers and store team members by wearing face masks and taking note of health and safety precautions such as keeping an appropriate distance and using the hand sanitizers provided.

SPAR Thailand now also offers home delivery from 22 stores. Customers can browse the product assortment online and place their order via a dedicated phone line. Deliveries take place from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and delivery fees are calculated based on distance from the SPAR store in question.

Beyond this SPAR delivery service, customers can order SPAR products using popular food delivery apps such as LINEMAN for fast and convenient delivery. From 1-30 April, SPAR Thailand is adding a free tea beverage worth 45 baht (€1.27) to delivery orders above 250 baht.

Besides enacting safety measures and making shopping easier through delivery, SPAR Thailand is also offering customers diverse promotions that meet their everyday needs during these challenging times.

The theme of SPAR Thailand’s April promotion has been changed from Songkran, a national holiday to mark the beginning of the Thai New Year, to COVID-19. This promotional theme is communicated via Facebook and provides shoppers with discounts on food and beverage staples.

About SPAR Thailand

In early 2016, SPAR International granted a licence to Bangchak Retail Company Limited (BCR) to develop and grow the SPAR Brand in Thailand. In its first full year of operation, SPAR Thailand grew from three to 33 stores.

Within its range of brands, in addition to the SPAR portfolio, BCR is expanding the Inthanin Coffee and Lemon Kitchen solutions to support the SPAR forecourt offer. The focus on healthy living through a good offer of ready-to-eat and home-meal-replacement options underpins the convenience solution being developed.
