The second phase of this year’s Congress programme from 26-28 May will include visits to Zaanse Schans, a stay in Noordwijk, an up-close look at Rotterdam Port and of course, some exercise.
Delegates for this second part of the Congress will travel to the city of Noordwijk from where we will enjoy the remainder of this year’s Congress programme. Luggage will be transferred separately, being tagged when dropped off for the transport. Details will be available at the SPAR hospitality desk on Wednesday evening about the drop-off location.
We depart from the hotel at 10:30 to walk to the coaches (approx 10 minutes). While en route to Noordwijk, we will take in some typical Dutch scenery and during our visit to Zaanse Schans, we will enjoy some well-known Dutch export products. Good walking shoes and smart casual clothing is a guideline for clothing choice today.
In Noordwijk, there will be an opportunity to network with the participants and to explore some of the local sights. In the afternoon, a programme of activities will be arranged, working up an appetite before we enjoy a relaxed evening at the beach. The activities will be pre-signed up at the SPAR hospitality desk in the Krasnpolsky hotel – please make sure you have sporty wear for either cycling, beach volleyball, beach golf, sand sculpting or power kiting!
Dress code for the evening barbecue is casual, bear in mind it can become much cooler in the evenings as we will be on the beach.
Contrasting with the historical elements seen in Amsterdam, the modern architecture which is so evident in Rotterdam will be seen during this visit to another of The Netherland’s major cities and the biggest seaport in Europe.
We will visit experience a guided bus tour of Futureland, which is part of the Port of Rotterdam, but also experience the area’s waterways during an extensive boat tour. We will dine on board the boat while we cruise along the Maasvlakte. Dress comfortably for the day, wearing shoes that are comfortable to board the boat.
We will close the 65th International SPAR Congress with a dinner in our hotel. Dress code is smart casual.
Transfers to Schiphol International Airport will be arranged based on the flight information provided. The schedule will be available at the SPAR hospitality in the hotel. This is when we say a warm farewell to the SPAR family, returning home after an energising week celebrating 90 years of SPAR!
