SPAR employees and customers around the UK got into the spring spirit recently, proudly donning yellow daffodils in support of the terminal illness charity, Marie Curie.

Throughout March, SPAR stores in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland carried donation boxes. To supplement donations, on 31 March, the final day of Marie Curie’s largest annual fundraising campaign known as the Great Daffodil Appeal, SPAR employees gave up their time to raise money for the charity whose nurses help people living with a terminal illness and their families to make the most of the time they have left.

To celebrate the end of the month-long Great Daffodil Appeal the charity urged people throughout the UK to wear their yellow daffodil on 31 March and donate.

Commenting on the new partnership with Marie Curie, Debbie Robinson, Managing Director of SPAR UK said: “Both Marie Curie and SPAR are active in serving local communities throughout the UK and we at SPAR are also passionate about giving back to those communities and being there for them. We hope that in raising money for Marie Curie, we will make a real difference for those affected by a terminal illness.”

SPAR UK will continue to support Marie Curie fundraising campaigns throughout the year, including the charity’s Blooming Great Tea Party in June.
