SPAR Thailand partners with independent retailers

January 4, 2018 IN THE CATEGORY: Store openings

SPAR Thailand has launched a trial with two independent retailers operating 24/7 forecourt stores located at Bangchak petrol stations.

These independent retailers are able to tap into a unique offer from SPAR Thailand that cannot be obtained elsewhere, including the possibility to select and sell local products which other retailers do not have.

The first sub-licensed SPAR store, 183m2 in size, was opened in the third quarter of last year whilst the second, with a surface area of 141m2, opened in the fourth quarter. Both stores focus on meeting the needs of shoppers looking to purchase food-for-now or food-for-later by either enjoying the Inthanin Garden eating zone or selecting from the great service counter offer to take away. The Fresh and Easy Food Market developed by SPAR Thailand is included in both stores, following the success of this concept since the brand’s launch.

The independent retailers have been attracted to SPAR by the flexibility of product offer targeted at the specific customer profile in each location and the support provided in developing the right offer to minimise waste. These stores reflect SPAR Thailand’s aim of forecourt retailing being an opportunity for shoppers to stop and enjoy their food in addition to being top-up locations for those on the move.

SPAR Thailand ensures the maintenance of the brand’s standards by providing training programmes for independent retailers as well as guidelines on store design and layout, merchandising, planograms, product assortment, marketing, promotions, logistics and lastly, business consultancy support.

Furthermore, SPAR Thailand has recently partnered with CIMB Thai Bank to open branches in SPAR forecourt stores and supermarkets, in recognition of shopper needs and adding even more convenience for customers.

SPAR Thailand anticipates building on their independent retailer base by expanding with a further 15 stores in 2018 and building sales growth in the existing retail portfolio. Read more news from SPAR Thailand here.
