SPAR Ireland supports community run

With a growing public interest in short distance running, SPAR Ireland partnered with Athletics Ireland recently to support one of the races in their 2018 series titled ‘The SPAR Streets of Dublin 5K race’.

The event brought together approximately 2,000 runners, including retailers and staff members from the SPAR Ireland central office team, to enjoy the 5K race through Dublin’s beautiful streets. Along with the many individual participants, a number of running clubs and companies had teams running in the race.

SPAR Branding on the day was extensive. The logo was not only visible on the runners’ number bibs, but also on race signage at the start and finish lines, and all the way along the route.

SPAR Ireland’s sponsorship of these kinds of community running events forms part of its focus on the promotion of health and wellbeing. This core part of SPAR Ireland’s scope of service also includes the promotion of healthy eating and through its Better Choices food range, the SPAR Partner provides customers with a large selection of healthy food and snack options.

Last year, SPAR Ireland launched its support for the Cork Airport 5K Midnight Run, which proved to be incredibly successful. Back thanks to popular demand, the second edition of this race is scheduled to be held in November this year.
